A KLT container (small load carrier) is a transport and storage box standardized according to VDA recommendations. This is also what the abbreviation “KLT” stands for. Small load carriers are the efficient transport and logistics service providers around the globe. The containers were created with the aim of unifying and standardizing load carriers. The material of the container is exclusively the plastic polypropylene in predefined colors. In this way, boxes from various manufacturers and customers can be recycled at the end of their life time, where they serve as raw material for new small load carriers.
The KLT range is supplemented by the foldable KLT container. This also ensures a modern solution for the storage, transport and picking of goods and is also suitable for automatic warehouses. The KLT has completely closed side walls and thus enables the full use of its volume. The KLT folding container combines the advantages of the KLT series with the space economy of folding boxes. KLT containers are modularly adapted to the areas of 120 x 80 cm and 120 x 100 cm and can therefore be used universally. In most cases, small load carriers meet the needs of shipping and storage. In most cases, small load carriers meet the needs of shipping and storage.
Small load carriers are available in different sizes of the base area. Various parameters can be combined through the choice of the base area and the soil designed by name. The VDA specifies a height of 147 mm for the boxes and 213 mm for the boxes, with a height of 147 mm specified for the smallest base area. Similar to paper formats, the area doubles from step to step, but the aspect ratio changes from 3: 2 to 6: 4. The boxes can be stacked in several layers, but the dimensions are such that four boxes of 600 mm × 400 mm tear flat on the Euro pallet. The basic principle of stackable plastic boxes, including the choice of floor space, has also been adopted in industries other than the automotive industry.
RL-KLT
The RL-KLT container is a new design of the KLT container that has been known for years and was developed as a light version. he designation RL stands for “Redesign Light”. These small load carriers have the same single-walled design as the R-KTL and can carry up to 20 kg. The RL-KLT is characterized by the earth with existing water drainage holes. Smooth interior walls and handles for mechanical movement round off the “prototype” of all subsequent KLT variants. Both the R-KLT container and the RL-KLT container are available in an electrically conductive ESD version. The useful volume of the small load carriers is optimized for industrial processes, the advantageous container is compatible with all other containers in Euro format.

What is a KLT?
A KLT container – also known as a small load carrier, standard Euro container and Euro box – is a transport and storage box. The sizes and the material are standardized according to VDA. The only material used is polypropylene.
What colors does a KLT container have?
Like the size and material, the colors of the KLT boxes are also standardized.
- Dark blue (RAL 5003) in the manufacturing industry
- Black (RAL 9005) as ESD KLT box
- Light blue (RAL 5012)
- Blue (RAL 5005)
Some manufacturers also use their own corporate colors.
What is the difference between R-KLT, RL-KLT, F-KLT and C-KLT?
- R-KLT:rigid, composite floor
- RL-KLT: rigid, smooth base
- F-KLT:foldable, composite floor, up to 20 kg
- F-KLT: double-walled, up to 50 kg
How big is a KLT container?
KLT containers are standardized in size. R-KLT and RL-KLT are made up as follows:
- 600 x 400 x 280 mm (R-KLT 6429 / RL-KLT 6280)
- 600 × 400 × 147 mm (R-KLT 6415 / RL-KLT 6147)
- 400 x 300 x 280 mm (R-KLT 4329 / RL-KLT 4280)
- 400 x 300 x 147 mm (R-KLT 4315 / RL-KLT 4147)
- 300 x 200 x 147 mm (R-KLT 3215 / RL-KLT 3147)
